Dr. Wayne E. Snyder
Dr Snyder became interested in ophthalmology while in high school. A small foreign body on the cornea needed to be removed by his doctor 60 miles away at midnight. After just several minutes at the doctor's office, the pain was gone and his vision was back to normal. At that point, he knew that this is what he wanted to do with his life.
Dr. Snyder received his B.S. in chemistry from Northern State College and his M.D. from University of South Dakota School of Medicine in Vermillion, SD. He then completed an internship at St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield, Wisconsin, and his ophthalmology residency at Truman Medical Center at the University of Missouri in Kansas City.
Dr. Snyder practiced in Aberdeen for five years before moving to Watertown in April of 1990. He has been at his present office since 1999.
Dr. Snyder was happy to welcome his daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Beth Kunkel and Dr. Matt Kunkel into the newly formed Kunkel-Snyder Optometric in 2007. This allows our family of doctors to provide your family with comprehensive eyecare in a caring and convenient office setting.
"Our goal is to provide all of our patients with the very best care using the latest technology for examinations, visual tests, and surgical correction to obtain your greatest vision possible. We also strive to give each patient the time needed to answer questions and concerns they may have about their eye health."
Dr. Snyder and his wife Gail have four daughters and three sons. They presently have 13 grandchildren and that number is expected to increase. "We truly love being Nana and Papa to our grandchildren and watching them grow up, as we did our children."
